3 Hours Before Flight Time
Assam is a north Indian state with amazing wild life, lush greenery of the tea gardens, landscaped natural beauty of the surrounding, the rich culture and also the warm hospitality. Guwahati is the biggest city and Dispur is the capital of Assam. There are several marvelous sightseeing places in Assam which attract thousands of tourists round the year.
Arriving at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station our staff will meet you and take you by car to our first destination Kaziranga National Park which is 220 kilometers from the Guwahati Airport or Railway Station and take 5 hours to go there. After reaching Kaziranga National Park, do check in at the hotel. Evening is kept free for leisure. Stay Overnight at Kaziranga.
Exploring the Kaziranga National Park a very popular place and no doubt is the most adventurous part of this Assam trip. It is the tiger reserved forest and the density of tiger is on the highest here. On the second day in the early morning, go for exploring the Kaziranga National Park by riding Elephant. Other than Rhino, there are other species in the forest like different types of Deer, Buffalo, elephants and if you have good luck with you then you can get to see the tiger as well.
In the forest there are some rare species like storks, pelicans, etc due to the plenty of water areas inside the Park. There you can see a variety of birds as it is declared as the important bird area as well. Return back to the resort and have breakfast. In the afternoon you can go for the thrilling jeep safari through the Kaziranga National Park. Come back to the hotel and take rest. Stay overnight at Kaziranga.
On the third day, after having breakfast start for Shillong, which is situated at 4,900 ft, is called the ‘Scotland of the East”. The distance from Kaziranga National Park to Shillong is 295 kilometers which takes around seven hours to go there. On the way we will get the Umium Lake, a spectacular and peaceful lake surrounded by the gorgeous hills. Reaching Shillong, check in at the hotel. Evening is kept free for leisure. Spend the night at Shillong.
On the fourth day after taking early breakfast drive to the famous place Cherrapunjee, known for the most rainfall in the world, situated at 4,400 ft. Cherrapunjee is a place with abundance of greenery makes it picturesque. It is 60 kilometers away from Shillong which takes just 2 hours to go there. There you can see the beautiful Nohkalikai waterfall. You can also see the Mawsmai caves which are illuminated due to the stalagmites. In the evening while returning to Shillong, on the way you can visit the wonderful Elephanta falls and the Shillong peak for the great nature views. Spend the night at Shillong.
On the fifth day of Assam Tour, plan to visit the Cleanest Village of Asia, Mawlynnong which is 90 kilometers away from the Shillong city and takes just 3 hours to go there. After having early breakfast, start for Mawlynnong. Mawlynnong has many appealing things to see like the Living Root Bridge made of the rubber trees and the weird and wonderful natural incident of balancing boulder on a small rock. Return back to the Shillong hotel and stay at night there.
On the day six of your journey, after having breakfast go for the Shillong sightseeing places. Visit the Don Bosco Museum and Ward’s Lake. After that, move forward to your next destination Guwahati which is 100 kilometers away from Shillong and takes just 3 hours to go there. After arriving Guwahati, checking in at hotel. You can visit ‘Kalakshetra’ in the evening where you can experience an amazing sound light show about the history and culture of Assam. Apart from that there are an art gallery, a cultural museum, a library, a children’s park where the children can have a fun time and also an open air theatre. After that return back to the hotel and stay there overnight.
On the seventh day post breakfast, go out for the local sightseeing of Guwahati. Guwahati is quite a modern city placed beside the river Brahmaputra and it has ample of sightseeing places to look for. You can visit the State Zoo and Botanical Garden where you can find many rare species of animal in their natural habitat. Apart from the animal exhibits, there are a museum, a botanical garden, a reptile house and a collection of herbarium.
Other than that visit the Regional Science Centre is a Science Museum is a best place for the children with their family where you can have learning experience along with fun; the Sukreswar Temple, the significant Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is the place for the sixth Jyotirlinga of Shiva; the Nabagraha Temple which is dedicated to the nine planets of Hindu Astronomy, the Assam State Museum which shows the glory of History and culture of Assam; Tirupati Balaji Temple; Nehru park, Guwahati Planetarium, etc.
In the afternoon, you can also go for a trip to the Golden sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River and you have to pay for this by own. Spend the night at the Guwahati hotel.
On the final day visit Kamakhya Temple, one of the oldest and significant Hindu pilgrimage destinations dedicated to goddess Kamakhya. After that, move to the Guwahati Airport or Guwahati Railway Station for your journey back to home. This wonderful small trip to Assam will be remembered for long in your mind.
